Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Columbia στην Νέα Υόρκη, έγινε στις 18
Απριλίου η 100η απονομή των Βραβείων Pulitzer, της υψηλότερης διάκρισης που
δίνεται κάθε χρόνο, σε έντυπα μέσα ενημέρωσης.
Στην κατηγορία «Breaking News», για την φωτογραφική κάλυψη
της προσφυγικής κρίσης στην Ευρώπη και την Μέση Ανατολή, τιμήθηκαν από κοινού το
πρακτορείο Reuters και η εφημερίδα New York Times.
Από πλευράς Ελλήνων, βραβεύθηκαν ο επικεφαλής της ομάδας του
Reuters για την Ελλάδα και την Κύπρο Γιάννης Μπεχράκης και οι συνεργάτες του στο Πρακτορείο Reuters, Άλκης
Κωνσταντινίδης και Αλέξανδρος Αβραμίδης.
Ο Γιάννης Μπεχράκης δήλωσε:
"Το να παίρνεις ένα Πούλιτζερ, από μόνο του είναι μεγάλη
επιτυχία και αναγνώριση της δουλειάς σου. Το να το μοιράζεσαι όμως με δυο είτε
κυριολεκτικά είτε μεταφορικά μαθητές σου, τον Άλκη Κωνσταντινίδη και τον
Αλέξανδρο Αβραμίδη, έχει αξία πέρα από κάθε αναγνώριση.
Ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ
στους συνεργάτες μου, για την αφοσίωση τους και τη σκληρή δουλειά!"
